What do the Soli Gin team do when we are in Coronavirus lockdown? We continue to look for ways to heighten your Soli Gin experience with quarantini (“quarantine”) recipes.
Currently, we are individually experimenting with quarantini recipes and the perfect way to drink Soli Gin and tonic. A slice of citrus fruit, a sprig of rosemary, some peppery hints, or a few freshly plucked basil leaves? Poured over a lot of ice or just a couple of cubes? Our Soli Gin is ready!
Rather like Goldilocks, we have spent the last few months, ensuring that everything is just right. The bottles, the branding, but most importantly; the Gin. We have reached the stage where we are ready and eager to launch Soli Gin in the market. We are thrilled to think that our dreams have become a reality and that we have a product everyone may enjoy.
Along with the rest of the world, we have to postpone our launch plans due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

What are Botanicals?
First and foremost, Gin is an alcoholic spirit which is predominantly flavoured by juniper (botanicals). That is a legal requirement!
Produced using purified neutral alcohol of roughly 96% Gin can be formulated from grain or a by-product of grapes or molasses. Botanicals are wrapped in muslin or similar material, using time-honoured techniques. It is then steeped in the base alcohol inside a traditional copper still, for up to 48 hours before the distillation process commences.Once distilled, Soli Gin is cut with locally sourced natural spring water from the Paphos region to attain the legal alcohol percentage for bottling.The real Gin heroes are, of course, the botanicals. A Brief History of Gin
Over a thousand years ago Benedictine monks were infusing wine with juniper berries, the essential botanical in gin giving it its distinct flavour and aroma, producing a tonic wine. However, the benefits gained from this particular tonic wine have not been substantiated.
A precursor however to the malt wine infused with a generous number of junipers produced by the Dutch in the 17th century called Genever. Once again it was touted as having some health benefits, and it is thought the juniper berries were used to disguise the harsh quality of the alcohol.
